About LSB
Author, illustrator and founder of LSB, Chris Lewnau, was always a sports fanatic. As a child and young adult he favored baseball, which he played himself for 10 years, basketball, and college football. It wasn't until his mid-twenties that Lewnau really became intrigued by the Beautiful Game, as he couldn't keep his eyes away from the 2014 Brazilian World Cup. The famed tournament had returned to Brazil for the first time since 1950, but amid controversy. Unlike in 1950, when the tournament served as an international highlight post World War II, many of the Brazilian people contested the choice of their government to hold the 2014 edition as it came with cost to many locals.
The energy was high as host Brazil, of course, longed for a win, while ardent opponents Argentina, Germany, and the Netherlands were chasing the trophy too. Even the United States made it to the Round of 16, which ignited a fire for soccer in the hearts of Americans everywhere, including Lewnau's. That same year, Lewnau had taken a job at an online magazine and began his career writing about the 2014 World Cup. His passion for soccer exploded through that tournament and he's never gone back.
Now, for this website, Lewnau Sports Bureau, Lewnau writes articles on various European league matches and finals, with the occasional South American league match added to the mix. He also covers international tournaments like the Euros, Copa America, Gold Cup, and World Cup. He shares his love of the beautiful game through his colorful writing style that makes you feel like you’re right there on the pitch. In stark contrast to his writing, in April of 2017, Lewnau began illustrating a black and white picture for each article. And if you are wondering who his favorite team is, well, it's Barcelona.
